EDUCATION, SOCIETY & CULTURE

Well, during these time I have published the next items in our Mind 42:

As in my essay delivered in the month of October, I would like to return to a video that shared fernando aldana in our mind 42, which circulates on the internet, called "why the Colombians are so poor?

Where it is concluded that lack of discipline, by the desire for life (including money) is for the quick and easy way. Unfortunately it is so, we have become accustomed that everything we have it with grant, and the posts of popular election candidate, takes it as a banner offering and give things (even) houses in Exchange for a vote.

The problem of education in Colombia is not now, it has always been the same is the lack of opportunities for all. Public education was formerly free and passed only the best. Although the filter is now big obviously that the only way to free training in Colombia is the Seine. In order to attract apprentices, the Seine them motivates through initiatives such as World skills, applicatte, Math Olympics, Seine-eco Formula; gourmet cuisine Colombia, among others. in these competitions the Seine rewards them with economic stimulus to continue their college careers, travel abroad or domestic. It also gives them monetary aid for its sustainability with programs like some, support of maintenance and a national programme for young people in action and others to assist them with their maintenance stage teaching or training; which are designed to encourage learners to continue their training, because many times by poverty or because they have no financial backing are removed; for this they must meet academic requirements and attitudes, which are evaluated by their teachers and classmates.

Social differences are evident in education because as it says in one of the articles that I shared, private schools are the best in national ranking. Leaving much more down the public. As in my Department, the best educational entities are now private. Years ago the best College, with national renowned bore the name of our Department, the Colegio de Boyacá. This because the laws protected and valued education, children and young received additional training in sports and music, what he did was educate comprehensive students. Now everything is extra. The Conference live them changing all day half day is tomorrow or later, according to the President of the day. This addition to the families, many times parents without education, do not provide their child culture but are unfortunately few aspirations doing that their children do not come out of its origins, not to forget its past but that this will make them strong for another path.
Incredible, really incredible that our country with so many riches not only material but above all human is so poor. A country where although schools and colleges are filled with students, the streets remain flooded from begging and worse still learning to steal and Rob to their fellow citizens, in where are made to kill children and adolescents or kill by a cell phone, a wallet or a Briefcase of student.

Lack of opportunities? Yes maybe, but also desire to get out of the same vicious circle, in where absence of a good example in their homes prefer to carry of the day to their home to eat or feed Vice, to leave the place where they were born.

For me it is difficult, if not impossible, to our educational system change. We are not, nor will be somewhat similar to international models. We would have to change absolutely everything. The Sena is just a grain of sand in the vastness of the Colombian education

MY HAAGA´S EXPERIENCE

Pre Assignment and Orientation to Teaching Practice Development Project:

KOLB

Kolb model "Experimental Learning" (Kolb 1984). Supposed to learn something must be working or processing the information received. Kolb said that, on the one hand can set off:a) In a direct and concrete experience., b) From an abstract experience, which is what you have to read about something or when someone has: The experiences have concrete or abstract, is become aware when manufactured any two ways: a) Thought and thinking about them., b) actively experimenting with the information received.

CONTRUCTIVISM

CONSTRUCTIVISM

How Does Learning Occur?
Constructivism contends that learners form or construct their own understandings of knowledge and skills. Perspectives on constructivism differ as to how much influence environmental and social factors have on learners’ constructions. Piaget’s theory stresses equilibration, or the process of making internal cognitive structures and external reality consistent. Vygotsky’s theory places a heavy emphasis on the role of social factors in learning.
What Is the Role of Memory?
Constructivism has not dealt explicitly with memory. Its basic principles suggest that learners are more apt to remember information if their constructions are personally meaningful to them.
What Is the Role of Motivation?
The focus of constructivism has been on learning rather than motivation, although some educators have written about motivation. Constructivists hold that learners construct motivational beliefs in the same fashion as they construct beliefs about learning. Learners also construct implicit theories that concern their strengths and weaknesses, what is necessary for learning to occur, and what others think of their capabilities (e.g., parents, teachers).
How Does Transfer Occur?
As with memory, transfer has not been a central issue in constructivist research. The same idea applies, however: To the extent that learners’ constructions are personally meaningful to them and linked with other ideas, transfer should be facilitated.
Which Processes Are Involved in Self-Regulation?
Self-regulation involves the coordination of mental functions—memory, planning, synthesis,
evaluation, and so forth. Learners use the tools of their culture (e.g., language, symbols) to
construct meanings. The key is for self-regulatory processes to be internalized. Learners’ initial self-regulatory activities may be patterned after those of others, but as learners construct their own they become idiosyncratic.
What Are the Implications for Instruction?
The teacher’s central task is to structure the learning environment so that learners can construct understandings. To this end, teachers need to provide the instructional support (scaffolding) that will assist learners to maximize their learning in their zone of proximaldevelopment. The teacher’s role is to provide a supportive environment, not to lecture and give students answers.

LEARNING THEORIES

It´s a very good book about theories for all of us.  There are productive tools for the teachers, in order to know how the education has been.

Although the field of learning is ever changing, the primary objectives of this book is: (a) to inform students of learning, theoretical principles, concepts, and research findings, especially as they relate to education and (b) to provide applications of principles and concepts in settings where teaching and learning occur. The text continues to focus on cognition, although behaviorism also is discussed. This cognitive focus is consistent with the contemporary constructivist emphasis on active learners who seek, form, and modify their knowledge, skills, strategies, and beliefs.
